Woodblock print using Caligo ink. Based on a photo I took of a bird I saw in Denver while traveling for work. I slightly messed up the coloring, so real magpie fans might not be thrilled with the accuracy of this one, but I believe I captured the spirit.
I printed this block on a variety of papers, including pages torn from a book I found for under a dollar at the thrift store. In some prints of this cut on less absorbent paper and with lighter ink application, you can see the grain of the wood.
I also tried printing on my homemade paper.
